The Icelandic lake Thingvallavatn has become synonymous with monster ice age brown trout. People from all over the world come to chase their dream fish. Many have their dream come true from the first cast, others go home empty handed.

Mountains, rivers, lakes, brooks and ponds. Loads of wildlife. A total of 6 million acres designated as "Forever Wild" ready to explore and fish.

This is a great book, and a really excellent intro to reading the water and matching the hatch for the angler who feels that both these disciplines are difficult. It clearly illustrates that they don't have to be.

Back in 2002 I was visiting GFF partner Steve Schweitzer in Colorado. The story has been told before in this article. We fished a lot of different waters and caught quite a few fish during our stay, but I want to pick out one certain trip and fish from that journey.

The book goes through the origin and history of the Boobies and covers a number of Booby fishing techniques

My good friend Asger invited me to go pike fishing on his favorite lake. I accepted, naturally. The days before had been rough and cold, but we were lucky enough to choose the one single day that brought some mild weather and a calm evening and night.

The summer fishing is dependent on two things - stable, warm weather and cold water. These two things seem to contradict each other, but usually the water is not yet that warm in June and the beginning of July, but the weather is fine and stable with high pressures and light south eastern winds.
